According to traditional Chinese medicine and Daoist thought, every living being contains and is, in fact, made up of a vital energy called Qi 氣 (pronounced “chee”).

Our Qi is dynamic

It moves and transforms within us in response to our internal and external environment. When our Qi is aligned and in harmony with our values we experience health, wellbeing, and sustainability. Disharmony, on the other hand, leads to illness, disease, suffering, and collapse.

Medical Qigong 氣功 Practitioner

I have a long history of simultaneously loving and hating what I’m doing. I retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service. It was both an easy and difficult decision because I needed to make the break but missed the people and the mission. Feeling like I still wanted to serve, I went to culinary school to become a chef: love cooking (and the people I was with), hated the industry and environment. Next stop, traditional medical school: loved classes and the people I was taking them with, really didn’t like the impending lifestyle changes. Teaching high school math and science: loved teaching and connecting with the students, hated keeping a seat warm when I wasn’t allowed to teach. You probably see the pattern.

Interestingly (to me, anyway), sometimes you just get lucky and find something that truly resonates. You realize that everything you’d done in the past had actually paved the way toward something that would not only change your own life, but has the potential to impact so many more people for good. I look forward to every day, to continuing this journey, and to sharing it with you.
